By using this schedule, we are able to divide the four core subject areas between two semesters (Math, Science, English, and History). Electives finish out the classes for each semester. We may also be enhancing student learning through team competitions in Math and other subject areas. Given the difficult level of our curriculum, we believe the block curriculum offers an opportunity for our students to focus better on two to three core courses each semester rather than four.
In keeping with our belief statements, EPA seeks to challenge each student with an advanced level curriculum. Beginning in kindergarten, learning rates, thinking/reasoning skills, and achievement rates are being established. Studies show that reading skills learned in the first three years of education play a major role in the student's learning ability for the remainder of their life. If you can read well and can comprehend what you read, you can learn and do anything. We use the A-Beka curriculum which is a Christian-centered curriculum with morality and ethics issues intertwined in the studies. The A-Beka curriculum focuses on reading skills intensely through the 3rd grade. Having that foundation firmly established, starting in the 4th grade, the curriculum really accelerates and teaches students "to fly".

W
e supplement the A-Beka curriculum as necessary.

Our curriculum and course offerings are in accord with those of the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Advanced Diploma.
